Here at Temescal Driving Range we practice a game that originated in Scotland where Golf became popular around the year 1450. The point of the game is to drive a small ball through a series of grass courses and to be the player who putts the ball into the hole on a numbered green with the fewest number of strokes.
In 1894 the United States Golf Association [ U.S.G.A.] was born through hard work by the St.Andrew's Golf club of Yonkers, N.Y. Their leadership in bringing about golf awareness was pivotal. In 1916 R. Wanamaker organized professional golfers to form the Professional Golfers Association [ P.G.A.].
In 1993 Mr. Craig Deleo, created the Temescal Driving Range. His helpful staff will be happy to accommodate all your golfing needs. Craig went on to found the Temescal Tournament Club [ T.T.C.] because men & women that play golf have a driving need to be on "The Course".
Temescal Driving Range features one of the all grass driving ranges in the Southern California area & is always well-maintained. Extending out on a 14 acre lot, there is always green turf to drive from.
For those who just want to practice their drive, we offer overflowing: Small, Medium, Large, Mini-Jumbo & Jumbo buckets. Practice at your own pace. Drive as many balls as you want during your visit to T.D.R. Our practice balls are all Wilson or Ultra range balls and are cleaned nightly with a special solution.
Temescal Driving Ranges' practice greens are true to greens on the typical golf course. Healthy, smooth and always trimmed perfectly. Sharpen your putting skills on the main practice green nestled by Palm trees next to the range. The practice green is undulated and speed measured to standard golf course greens.
For those needing practice around the green, adjacent to the streamside practice green is a well planed chipping area and sand bunker. Three target flags are cut and a large healthy bunker allows practice of all short game shots imaginable.
